Look beyond speed: can you find the target, follow the rule and resist distraction?

UNDERSTAND YOUR RESULTS
Read attention results alongside speed and errors
This dimension organizes visual-search and interference-control observations. Schulte and Stroop tasks have different rules, material and units. Interpret them separately before comparing matching sessions. These tasks do not diagnose an attention disorder.
Schulte: find targets in the right order
The grid task requires finding targets in a specified order. Completion time describes that search and interaction attempt. Match grid size, order mode and input device before comparing difficulty levels or records.
Stroop: keep the rule under interference
Word meaning and color can agree or conflict. Consider accuracy, correct-response times for each condition and valid trial counts together. A conflict cost is a difference between conditions, not the full response time of either condition.
Retest for accurate, repeatable responses
Shorter time with more errors is not necessarily better performance. Keep settings and equipment consistent and consider several observations. One lapse or one reference score does not establish a fixed attention ability.

Attention task questions
Does a shorter Schulte time always mean better attention?
Time alone is not enough. Familiarity, search strategy, grid settings and interaction devices can affect performance. Confirm matching conditions and correct completion before comparing several personal records.
What does an increased Stroop conflict cost mean?
It describes a time difference between conflict and control conditions, not the whole task response time. Interpret it with the conditions used, accuracy and valid trial counts.
Is a negative interference cost invalid data?
Not necessarily. Trial variation, strategy or condition differences can produce a negative cost on an attempt. Review the underlying conditions and accuracy rather than declaring it invalid or exceptional on its sign alone.
Can these tasks tell me whether I have ADHD?
No. They provide task observations, not clinical screening or diagnosis. One result cannot identify the cause of attention difficulties in daily life.
Where do scores and references come from?
Start with recorded scores. Historical coverage and comparable results may count different records.
Read scoring and record notes
Scores come from saved attempts
Milliseconds, levels and item counts come from test records saved in this browser. Latest and personal-best scores are different observations, not fixed abilities.
References are not measured global ranks
Current reference scales use provisional project rules, not validated population norms. Estimated Top does not describe an observed population proportion; combining reference scores does not establish an overall population percentile.
Why can overview and detail counts differ?
The ordinary Profile overview and dimension details use the same production record-eligibility rules. Historical records remain visible, but records without comparable conditions do not contribute to reference scores. Saved history is not automatically a valid same-condition result. Distinguish all linked tests from the core tests contributing to a dimension.
Match conditions before comparing
Prefer the same task, mode, version and input method. Similar dates or scores alone cannot establish comparability when these conditions were not saved.
Personal records stay in the browser
These notes do not read personal scores. Public HTML and page structured data contain no personal records. Sharing the page URL does not transfer your locally saved results.

Attention
Interpret Schulte time, Stroop condition response time and interference cost separately, without inventing a global attention rank.
