What is Mouse Polling Rate?
Polling rate is how often your mouse reports its position to your computer per second. Higher polling rate = lower input lag.
- • 1000Hz = 1000 updates/sec = 1ms between updates
- • 125Hz = 125 updates/sec = 8ms between updates
Why is my result showing 125Hz?
This usually means:
- • You're using an office/basic mouse (not a gaming mouse)
- • Your gaming mouse software isn't configured for higher polling
- • You're using Bluetooth mode instead of wired/2.4G wireless
Solution: Check your mouse driver software (Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, etc.) and set polling rate to 1000Hz.
Does polling rate affect my gaming performance?
Yes, but the impact depends on your skill level and game type:
- • 125Hz → 1000Hz saves ~7ms of input lag
- • For competitive FPS games (CS2, Valorant), every ms counts
- • For casual gaming, you may not notice the difference
Pro players universally use 1000Hz or higher polling rates.
What about 4000Hz or 8000Hz mice?
Ultra-high polling rates (4000Hz+) provide:
- • 4000Hz = 0.25ms between updates
- • 8000Hz = 0.125ms between updates
However, the browser can only detect up to ~1000-1200Hz due to technical limitations. Real-world benefits above 1000Hz are marginal for most users.
